NEWS RELEASE April 10, 2008 Red Desert Photo Show Calls for SubmissionsLARAMIE –Biodiversity Conservation Alliance today announced a call for submissions of photography for the 5th Annual Red Desert Photo Show. The show will open on Sunday, September 21st at The Grounds Internet Café in Laramie. Photographers should submit their work at Biodiversity Conservation Alliance’s office in Laramie by September 19th. Photographs depict subjects in Wyoming’s Red Desert and will be entered in either the Landscape category or the Wildlife and Wildflowers category. Photographs will also be entered in the Professional Division for photographers who have previously sold their work or in the Amateur division for those who have not. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each division and category. “The Red Desert Photo show shows off this area’s spectacular landscapes and abundance of interesting plants and wildlife that you would never see if you were traveling down the interstate between Rawlins and Rock Springs,” remarked Erik Molvar, wildlife biologist with Biodiversity Conservation Alliance. “The Red Desert contains crown jewel landscapes of national significance like Adobe Town and the Jack Morrow Hills area, but a lot of people have never seen them because the prettiest landscapes are far from the pavement. The Photo Show brings the beauty of the Red Desert to people who have never seen it, and gives talented photographers a chance to showcase their work.” Submitted photographs should be framed and ready for hanging, with matting recommended. A fee of $5 per entry will be waived for photographers younger than 18 years of age.Photographs can be offered for sale to the public during the photo contest and show. A portion of the sale proceeds will benefit the Biodiversity Conservation Alliance’s Red Desert conservation campaign.
